The world’s largest conversation on climate change had finally arrived and emotions were running high as we prepared to delve into the topic “What makes you empowered to affect climate change?” The Bengaluru, India portal and Nakivale, Uganda portal were connected for this important event, and the anticipation in the room was palpable.
The conversation began with introductions, as participants got to know each other and shared their backgrounds and experiences with climate change. To everyone’s surprise, there were many common experiences shared among the group, with issues such as flooding, overpopulation, and food wastage being frequently discussed.
As the conversation progressed, the group delved into the topic at hand, exploring what it means to be empowered to affect climate change. One of the speakers made a powerful statement that resonated with everyone in the room. On Friday, 10th February 2023, the Lagos portal was buzzing with excitement as a dynamic session was about to take place. The theme for the session was "What makes you empowered to affect climate change?" and attendees from various backgrounds gathered to share their experiences and learn from each other.
As introductions were made and attendees got to know each other, a surprising coincidence was noticed. Despite coming from different parts of the world, everyone in the room could relate to each person's experiences with the impacts of climate change, such as flooding, overpopulation, and food wastage.
The conversation was enlightening, with attendees realizing the extent to which their seemingly small, everyday actions can contribute to the larger issue of climate change.
