It is Friday yayyyy!!! We are all excited is our favorite day of the week. Anyways we spent our Friday at the Global WE discussing climate change as usual and this time it was a very insightful experience as we connected with Jo’burg, South Africa portal. We had a lot of climate change activists and enthusiasts on board.
We started off by introducing ourselves and getting to know each other. Then the conversation kicked of with the question of the month which is “What makes you feel empowered to affect climate change?”
Experiences were shared and we found a common ground realizing that climate change does not only affect underdeveloped countries but the world at large from flooding to improper waste disposals, deforestation, cultural deficits, agriculture and other ignored but major factors affect our climate at the same time affects our lives.
In the Lagos portal we had a guest by the name Nwaneri Bright who is volunteering at the youth sustainability development network as the head of consulting. He shared his experience on what they do, he said they create awareness on social impact and sustainability, support initiatives in promoting positive mindset towards climate change and sustainability.
He also said his company promotes positive minds towards climate change by encouraging people to pick wastes litters on beach and also help promote clean agriculture by helping farmers.
We also talked about environmental sustainability and we said environmental sustainability focuses on the conservation of biodiversity without foregoing economic and social progress. The foundations of environmental sustainability are: safeguarding water, saving energy, reducing waste, using recyclable packaging, limiting or eliminating the use of plastics, using sustainable transport, reusing paper and protecting flora and fauna.

The fight against climate change is a collective effort that requires the participation of everyone, regardless of their background or status. It is essential that we come together and lend our voices to this cause, to raise awareness and bring about positive change.
