MEET MUHAMMAD!
Bio: Muhammad Bah Kinga is an environmental advocate passionate about environmental management and sustainability. His journey in this field began during his undergraduate studies in Environmental Management Technology, where he developed a keen interest in understanding the complex interactions between human activities and the environment.
Now a graduate of Environmental Management, Muhammad is also one of the co-founders of Across Community Initiatives; an organisation focused on promoting best practices in sustainability and environmental advocacy.
Muhammad’s inspiration to become involved in climate and community action stems from a deep sense of responsibility towards our planet and future generations. As the Yobe SGE Activators Network Lead, this led him to spearheading several awareness campaigns on deforestation in his community: Yobe state, Nigeria.
The impact of the campaign was significant, as it led to increased awareness and understanding of the importance of preserving our forests among his community members.
Indeed, passion is rewarding. When asked why he is so passionate about sustainability, Muhammad said:
“I want to connect with the sustainability community, demonstrate my commitment to environmental causes, challenge myself, and become a proactive advocate for positive change despite being a recent graduate without a formal job.”
“Personally, it was a rewarding experience to see the positive changes and collective action that resulted from our efforts. One thing I want for everyone to know about climate change is that individual actions collectively play a significant role in addressing the challenges posed by climate change. It is vital for everyone to understand that sustainable choices not only benefit the environment but also contribute to creating a healthier and more resilient future for all.”
Are you inspired to advocate? To empower? To educate? We hope you enjoyed reading Muhammad’s story as much as we enjoyed hearing it from him!
